Tip of the Day: Do you love Tacos or Sloppy Joes?
Well we do and I prefer homemade tacos any day over lets say “Taco Bell”. However, I always loved the consistency of their taco meat, very fine.
So one day I had a hair brained idea to chop up my hamburger after cooking in my little handy dandy chopper then add it back to the pan to add the seasoning and what do you know PERFECT! Yummy! The texture was right on. So when I made sloppy joes I did the same thing and well I’m here to tell ya I think they are better with fine hamburger than chunks. Save the chunks for awesome chunky chili.

If you don’t have a chopper and have a small family than this baby is perfect. I got this exact model Jan. ’09 from Amazon and it sits on my counter permanently, I use it for everything including the oodles of onions I love to put in everything (see image below). You don’t want to even ask what all the onions do to my man and I, heehee.
Ohhh, at the last minute I found an awesome looking taco seasoning recipe I am trying this weekend.

Oh I agree, I’ve had some blah tacos even at restaurants.
all depends on the flavoring my friend. Sometimes it is wonderful. Then a friend’s mom made it. Whether commercial or her own recipe, I do not know, but I did not like it.

Hey if the fam can’t stand them, do they like nachos? I actually prefer the nachos. I simply pile on everything I love on my tacos onto my nachos and dig in….
Two more tips: Always, very lightly toast the nachos or taco shells before using, even if the package is new. Makes a yummy big difference! And nachos become a fun smorgasbord. Just set all ingredients out and let everyone dig in to their liking. Also, for simplicity for you if fam still won’t eat them. Make your taco meat, eat what you want, and freeze the rest until you want them again. Then the fam can have something else
but you can quickly whip up your tacos.
Oh, I LOVE tacos. The rest of the family can’t stand them. So, I’m left to put them on hold in the family menu repertoire but once in a while I’ll try to throw them in. Maybe if the meat were finer (as you suggest) they might be more appealling! I’ll try that!
