Have you ever walked into a health club and seen how many Elliptical Trainers are there? These machines are growing in popularity over treadmills. An elliptical can offer a low impact workout for all ages especially for older folks with aging joints or anyone with arthritis.

Elliptical Machines offer low impact workouts

Elliptical Trainers are designed to reduce stress on legs and joints. Basically, the Elliptical Machine could be compared to riding a bicycle only you never sit down. Feet in the pedals, it feels like you are walking on air. Your feet and ankles move in a natural motion like walking, running or jogging without the jolt with each step.

Any downsides to the Elliptical Trainer

Does the Elliptical Trainer have a downside? Yes! The dual action, elliptical exercise can be awkward and for shorter people may cause a problem with standing correctly and not straining parts of the body to reach. But some models such as, Precor, offer only the lower body exercise. But either way the Elliptical Trainer does have handles so you don’t have to use the upper body portion of the machine or only do so periodically. It is my opinion that the dual action workout is what makes an Elliptical Trainer so appealing.

If you have never tried the Elliptical Trainer I suggest you do. It gives a great workout and you will find out very quickly what kind of shape your body is in, just ask my muscular hubby about it, he has never worked out his lower and upper body together.

Here is the exact Elliptical Trainer Our Elliptical Trainer we have had a year at home.  All three of us get a terrific work out on this machine.

Do yourself and your family a favor and check one out.  Sure beats going to the gym.

I wonder when they will start to use the fitness equipment to generate electricity. I think more people will buy if they can exercise as well as saving money on electricity.
