Wow What A Storm…

Well I’m feeling gabby today as I didn’t get much sleep   If you live in the Midwest you totally know what I am talking about with a Thunderstorm.  Well we had a whopper last night.  Well rather early morning.  The rains came first than BAM!  Crack! there’s the lightening.

Man and ooodles of lightening was really lighting up the sky.

This started about 12:45am CT and we are a night family so we are still awake as this is hubby’s TV time.

So sitting there watching TV we’re startled so many times we laugh about it.  It sounded like the lighting was hitting stuff right outside our window.  Well about 1am out went the lights and on come a full house of candles.  Now I am not afraid of the dark or anything but my concern is always my fridge and freezer.  I have a stand alone freezer that is full of beef.  Remember I am a country gal and well we love our beef.  We are still working on eating 400 lbs of beef.  Half a cow!  Man if you have never bought beef at a local beef processor you are missing out.  Our beef was only $2.21 a pound and has provided us with the best tasting beef we’ve ever cooked at home.

Anyway, continuing on about the storm.  It’s now 2am and I figure I might as well try to get some sleep, hmpf that was a joke!  I can’t sleep, my fan isn’t on and all I can hear is lightening, rain and wind and the puppy snooring hee hee   So I finally nod off about 3:20am and wake again at 5:30am and WOOT!  we have power.  Our beef has been saved.  I can go to sleep now.

But for all you Midwesterners out there if you are like me you love a good rumbly storm.  Lighenting and all.  Wonder what’s in store for us next time?
