Well at least it wasn’t me this time.
So let me back up a little. We live in the Midwest, Missouri and boy is it going to be a rough winter. Last year we had oooodles of ice and well our country home and it’s longggggg downhill driveway, with way to many trees lining it, is let’s say “a challenge”.
So last year my truck, the Dodge Ram, just happily slid into the tree in the corner of our square section of gravel driveway as I was turning around on ice and snow. So what does a tree do to a plastic bumper guard? Oh you guessed it! Snapped it like a tooth pick and well all we could do was say “opps!” Hubby hasn’t let me live that one down yet.
So this year, 2nd snow fall of the year. In fact blizzard like snow, rain and ice. Anyway, we got a new (old new
) F350 dually truck. As our puppy and I happily watch daddy drive away to work down the sloping driveway, backwards, at 3:30pm (he left early too) well hell he didn’t drive at all. Slid all the way down the driveway only to stop in a very deep ditch just before you slip out onto the highway, which we all have done here before and let me tell ya that’s scary as all get out.
Anyhoo, when he hit the ditch I knew I needed to go help. Rolled myself up in super warm clothes and boots and headed out the door while he walked up the drive. Thank god for small favors! We hadn’t sold our Dodge Ram 4 WD yet. So hook up the Dodge to the front of the F350 and go like hell. It worked. I didn’t think it would because the F350 is a lot heavier. But low and behold we where up and out and back to the top of the driveway so he could attempt to slide back down and go to work 30 minutes later.
I am happy to say he slid straight and made it safe and sound.
Now just hope I don’t get the dreaded 4am phone call that says he’s stuck, errrr! Keep your fingers crossed for me as I have had to go get him before at this time of night.
Stay safe, stay warm, stay inside!

I like this article, thanks for posting.
Nothing like rubbing in our crappy weather in our faces
I would love to be in the Houston area and have to say CO looks lovely but I really do not like snow and ice either so I would never want to live there.
Merry Christmas!
My best friend just moved to MO from Houston… She’s originally from there but headed south a few winters ago. She’s pretty jealous right now because we are all still in flip flops and shorts, and probably will be on Christmas Day too. I lived in CO for about four years and really do not get along with snow and ice well! I hope you stay safe! Merry Christmas!

We love our highway patrol out here in our boonies. Man these roads are awesome. In fact I told hubby had he not got the truck stuck maybe we could have had them zoom up our driveway once dumping some serious salt this driveway is long when doing it by hand. Our driveway really is a pain in the A**!
Well you be careful on the ice that’s bad for every vehicle.
The county highways and the roads here in town are nothing but snow and ice! It’s crazy! Glad you got hubby out of the ditch safely.

I WISH I lived in Florida. Maybe if you think I do it will come true. Keeping thinking it hee hee.
Why the heck did I think you live in Florida? I lived in Missouri 3 years, moved to Bama in 1/2008. I saw lots of snow in Missouri, I think I’m going to miss it because it took me back to my childhood growing up in Germany. Stay safe!!!
