Getting over colds faster

Well it appears hubby and I are now sharing a cold.  I went from allergy problems to now I have a cold, blah.

When I told my hubby I thought I was coming down with a cold he said to me, “no kissy kissy”.  Actually thought he said, “no sushi sushi” hee hee and I hate sushi, makes me yack!  Anyway he does this to us when either of us start getting a cold he halts all kissing contact.  Is kind of a bummer.  But technically it probably helps.

So yesterday hubby couldn’t eat his breakfast, said he wasn’t hungry, then I noticed he didn’t eat everything in his lunch box.  Now this morning he said his stomach is upset, he’s hacking serious sinus yuck, and we are thinking he is getting a bug too.

So what do we do when we get colds?  Sneeze

Well like others we wash our hands more and refrain from the kissing game but I also take it one step further.  I disinfect almost all hand contact items.

I take a wash cloth, saturate it with Lysol disinfectant then walk around scrubbing things keeping the cloth wet with disinfectant.  I hit:

  • door knobs
  • cabinet handles
  • faucets
  • toilet flusher handles
  • cell phones
  • key boards
  • fridge handles
  • stove and toaster handles
  • microwave outside surface
  • remote controls of all kinds
  • and anything else I think we touch a lot

Then on to laundry.  I take ALL hand towels out of all bathrooms and the kitchen.  All bath towels, sheets and the clothes I am wearing.  Then I spend the night washing it all.  Every place gets fresh sheets, towels and clean clothes.

I take a shower and voila a semi germ free home, well as best as it can be because when hubby gets home from work he will bring some with him.

Does all this fuss help?  Actually, I believe it does.  We very rarely get colds in this house and when we do they don’t last long and don’t get very bad.  I have been doing the disinfecting of the house stuff for over 15 years.  I only really do it when we get a sign of a bug and once more after our bugs are gone.  Then after that, back to normal life.

I hope this helped someone.
