We had a great time here Monday night celebrating Thanksgiving. We can never do it on Thanksgiving day anymore due to work schedules and having to travel. So Monday night was our holiday night.
Started out by picking up my mother and bringing her here to stay the night Sunday and Monday. She has COPD and her body is riddled with Rheumatoid Arthritis so she doesn’t get around very well anymore.
However, wore mom’s butt out helping around the kitchen and living room. Good for her to feel needed and move around. Mom always sleeps great here and I think it’s because we keep her active and she is happy hanging with us.
Now hubby had to spend his Thanksgiving day outside working on our truck that has been out of commission for 2 weeks. Got it started but now it’s shorting out or something, so not done yet, errrrrr! He has my truck and I am stuck figuring out how to get around before he takes it every day, that’s a real bummer.
So cooked all day, hubby is starving by 7pm the kids are running late and get here at 8pm, then CHOW time. Within 30 minutes we are all stuffed and bless my soon to be son in law, he thanked me for going to all the trouble of fixing the feast. God love him. My daughter thanks me by diggin in to her favorite traditions eating and giggling, she’s still my baby
Then after hanging with the kids, they raid my candle stash, as normal, they are headed back home. Hugs and kisses and out the door. They drove home in a torrential downpour but the new tires have paid off.
Now momma has finally pooped out at 11:30pm, which is very late for her. Hubby and I get about an hour of cuddle and TV time and puppy is sleeping with grandma for the moment.
I slept like a rock but mom has been woken from the poison party going on in my kitchen. The damn little mice have drug their poison block onto the stove and are making all kinds of ruckus in there (clinging and clanging) and I can’t hear it because the bedroom door is closed but she is sleeping on the sofa bed. Funny thing is the mice don’t realize they are dancing with the devil on my stove. They think the have found the next best treat and are chowing down like no tomorrow. Well keep that up and there will be no tomorrow for them. Time to run to the hardware store and pick up a dozen more glue traps darn it. Dang little things are pissing me off royally this year.
Anyway, so Tuesday afternoon have to take mom home before hubby steals my truck again. I told mom I think we should start having a dinner/game/movie night twice a month. Once at her place and once at my place. She likes the idea so well she is already planning her mini taco night. Boy oh boy she’s gonna drive me crazy. But that’s okay, I totally realize she is lonely now and we get along great so these nights will be fun for her, she just can’t smoke in my home and can’t smoke when I’m at her house but she has always seemed fine with that.
I worked my butt off in the kitchen for 2 days, mom has helped somewhat but for the most part she leans on the counter and talks to me, but it was worth it. I love to have my family around the table, eating, talking and feeding Tinker or Maltese.
Toodles I am tired and have a little mess to clean up so I can veg for the night. Miss my hubby!!!
